Whatsapp family chat room - Mr Muslim Usmani's draft code of conduct 02.04.2014

1. I thank Allah (SWT) for being a member of Al-Qurba group. This fact humbles me and makes me even more thankful to Him that each one of us is highly educated, extremely intelligent, delicately brought up and good to look at. Ours is a multi-talented group and our forefathers have left us a legacy to preserve and pursue. I humbly accept that Allah (SWT) has bestowed upon each one us more than our fair share of His bounty.

2. We have founded this group to take advantage of the technology for exchange of familial news – happy or sad, good or bad. Through this platform, we propose to inspire each other to do better and self-improve to become a compassionate Muslim and a more responsible citizen.

3. In order to adhere to the general guidelines provided by Allah (SWT) and show due respect to the high level of intellect of the members, we, like in every activity of our lives, need to put certain restrictions on ourselves to avoid drift.

4. We understand that films, film songs and TV serials etc are a matter of personal preference. Bringing news, quizzes and gossip of the glamour world to this platform may offend the sensibilities of other members. These may better be avoided.
We understand that anything and everything that comes to our devices with a request to share, is not always worth sharing. In case we find any incoming post worth sharing, we shall resist the temptation of copy-pasting and will try to convey the same in our own words. This will give us an opportunity to reflect upon the necessity of sharing it besides trimming of the unwanted.

5. We understand that sharing links with a brief intro is entirely acceptable as option to open it or not is always available to the members.

6. We understand that in compliance to Allah’s order in Surah Al-Hujraat ayat No 11, we shall not stereotype any community and partake in cracking jokes based on colour, caste and creed.
We shall not share anything that is even remotely against the tenets of Islam or which has not been duly authenticated by Qur’an or Sahih Hadees.
We reserve our right to laugh out loud and not let go of any opportunity to pull any leg if there is one around. This is our common family trait.
